Why Choose the Buxton Wooden Dog Kennel and Run?

The Buxton Dog Kennel and Run is a great choice for pet owners seeking a high-quality, long-lasting, and comfortable outdoor home for their dog. This model is particularly noted for its unique cabin-style sleeping area within the kennel, which is designed to be more secure and warm than a standard open space. The raised, insulated floor and internal partition create a cosy sanctuary that traps a dog's body heat, making it an ideal retreat in colder weather.

Frequently Asked Question

A: The Buxton kennel’s cabin is expertly designed to offer supreme comfort and security. Its compact, enclosed space works by allowing your dog’s body heat to quickly fill the area, creating a warm and cosy sanctuary for a comfortable sleep, especially in colder weather. An internal partition acts as a built-in draft screen, providing a secure refuge from wind and cold, while the raised, insulated floors ensure your pet stays warm and dry. Beyond its focus on warmth, the cabin is also a highly versatile feature. Its elevated position makes it a great viewing perch where your dog can rest and observe their surroundings. The easy-to-use, lift-up lid also makes the space a convenient "day bed" for when your dog wants to rest without fully settling down for the night.

A: While our kennels are pressure-treated for durability, we recommend an annual treatment with a pet-safe wood preservative to maintain their condition and prolong their lifespan. Regularly cleaning the interior and ensuring the kennel is well-ventilated will also help keep your dog's home healthy and hygienic.

A: We offer a range of standard kennel designs and sizes. If you have specific requirements, we are happy to discuss potential custom options. Please get in touch with our team at 01270 212 193 or email us at sales@kennelstore.co.uk to discuss your needs.

A: Yes, all of our kennels come with a standard insulated, raised floor. The floor is insulated with 50mm of polystyrene between the bearers to create a warm, dry environment for your dog. For additional insulation, a 50mm thick insulation pack and an anti-chew pack for the walls can be purchased as an optional extra. The anti-chew pack consists of 50mm polystyrene and a 2mm PVC finish, which helps to create an "extreme anti-chew finish" and keep the kennel warmer in winter and cooler in summer. For our most thermally efficient options, please see our dedicated Deluxe Thermal Kennel range on our website.

A: A pop-hole is the cutout in the partition wall that allows your dog to move between the run and the sleeping area. Our standard pop-hole size on all kennels is 62cm (H) x 35cm (W). This size can be made smaller or larger upon request. To help discourage chewing, our pop-holes come with a free anti-chew pack around the edges, which is just one of the reasons we offer some of the best premium kennels in the UK.

A: Onduline is a brand of lightweight, corrugated roofing sheets made from a unique, eco-friendly material. The sheets are composed of bitumen-saturated organic fibres, which are put under intense heat and pressure to create a durable and waterproof product. Designed to be highly durable and resistant to harsh weather conditions, including strong winds, heavy rain, and extreme temperatures. Its unique composition makes it rust-proof and resistant to UV rays, which prevents fading and degradation over time.
