Some Interesting Facts About Dog Ownership
The Blue Cross, an animal charity has released some interesting facts on dog and pet ownership. In their report they claim that the average expenditure on a pet is £278 per year, which has risen from £231 in 2005 whereas dog owners spend on average £406. Perhaps this is because dogs are more expensive to look after then many other animals however this figure could also be down to the fact that dog need extra time and care to be looked after.
While animals such as cats can be very independent, dogs need you to feed them, take them for walks and provide a den/home for them, all of which take extra time and money. The report also gives other rather interesting facts such as men spend more on their pets in a year (£282) than women (£275) and that to further back up the argument before dog owners spend the most time with their pets, and are the most likely to take time off work for their pet
